California Chapter #0286 Chapter History The Harley Owners Group chapters are factory-sponsored, social riding groups.
Each chapter belongs to a factory-sponsored dealership and the membership is
guided by a chapter executive board which consists of four primary
officers--Director, Assistant Director, Secretary and Treasurer. The primary
officers are assisted by additional elected officers including Activities,
Historian, Ladies of Harley, Lead Road Captain, Membership, Newsletter Editor,
Photographer, Road Captains, Safety, Sergeant at Arms, and Webmaster. The chapter is sponsored by Redding Harley-Davidson owners Dave and Robyn Wright. At the time the chapter was started, the shop was located on Hwy. 273 across from Pop's Drive-In. It's now on Twin View. When the chapter originated, it was quickly decided that the group would have
two Chapter Rides each month--one on the first Saturday of the month and another
on the third Sunday of the month. This tradition continues today. Be sure to see
the calendar for upcoming rides. Although we happily take on charity events, we are basically a social, riding club; the sponsoring dealer and the officers work hard to provide rides and events to entertain the members with the main goal to "ride and have fun." Current annual events include the Bike Show, Poker Run, Christmas Float, and Year End Party. We are always looking for the input and participation of the membership to plan new rides and events for our chapter calendar. Let one of the officers know if you have an idea for a fun event or ride. Danny "Scooter" D. remembers spending a lot of his term as Director teaching the "H.O.G. way" to several new members--wear only H.O.G. colors at H.O.G. events, no fighting, and no passing Road Captains on rides. Since there was no P.A. system at the meetings in the beginning, Danny used a beer mug as a gavel to gain control of the meetings. Danny adds, "Yep, those were the good ol' days! "Our chapter consists of "great bikes, great people, and great fun"!If you have more information on the chapter history, contact the Webmaster. Below are the Directors who have led our chapter.
